A Canadian manufacturer of heating and ventilation systems has solidified plans to build a research facility in Minnesota.
The Associated Press reports Winnipeg-based Price Industries has already begun hiring 40 engineering and technical positions, each with an average salary of $80,000, for the new Maple Grove facility.
Price set their sights on Minnesota after Gov. Mark Dayton made a special visit to the firm's headquarters this summer and a $700,000 state construction grant was offered, the Associated Press says.
Senior Vice President Bruce Dorey said at Dayton's news conference Thursday that he expects 90 percent of the workers to come from Minnesota, the Star Tribune reports. Dorey says Minnesota's highly-skilled workforce also played a role in choosing a location for the new building.
