If you get caught in a thunderstorm in the Twin Cities this weekend, you might want to thank it for blowing away the plan to close Interstate 94. MnDOT postponed its work because of the rain in the forecast. No word yet on when it will be rescheduled. The project will install "smart lane" technology, as well as a new surface and improved drainage.

MnDot: weekend construction closes parts of I-35 & I-694

Key stretches of freeway will be closed at 10 p.m. Friday night, according to MnDOT. Westbound Interstate 694/Hwy. 10 will be closed between I-35E and I-35W for an overpass demolition. While southbound I-35W between Hwy 13 and Burnsville will close, too. Both are set to reopen 5 a.m. Monday.
