I-35W Bridge turns to teal to kick off Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month

The I-35W Bridge in Minneapolis had a teal tint Sunday night to begin a month-long campaign to draw attention to ovarian cancer, KARE 11 reports.

The bridge lighting was done in conjunction with the Minnesota Ovarian Cancer Alliance to kick of Ovarian Cancer Awareness month in the state.

Events will be held throughout September to raise money for ovarian cancer research.

MOCA says some of the events include HOM Silent no More Walk/Run in Edina Sept. 7.

According to MOCA, survival rates of women diagnosed with ovarian cancer continue to improve.

The agency says those diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 1975 experienced a five-year survival rate of 34.8 percent, while today, the American Cancer Society estimates the rate to be 46 percent.
