Weekend shutdown of I-94 in Twin Cities postponed

If you get caught in a thunderstorm in the Twin Cities this weekend, you might want to thank it for blowing away the plan to close Interstate 94. MnDOT postponed its work because of the rain in the forecast. No word yet on when it will be rescheduled. The project will install "smart lane" technology, as well as a new surface and improved drainage.

Expect weekend delays, detours on I-94 east, I-35W

Road construction may snarl traffic this weekend, as all eastbound lanes of Interstate 94 close for crews to lay pavement between Highway 55/Hiawatha Avenue and Highway 280 in Minneapolis. Interstate 35W in Arden Hills is closed in both directions between Interstate 694 and Highway 10 so crews can demolish the old County 10 Bridge. The closures continue through early Monday morning.

Ice closes I-94 in northwestern Minnesota

The State Patrol closed down Interstate 94 after at least four semi trucks slid on the icy road, causing traffic backups for miles. The Forum reports at least 100 motorists were temporarily stranded by the interstate closure.

Construction closes key stretch of I-35E

Forget about taking Northbound Interstate 35-E between Eagan and St. Paul this weekend. It's closed for repairs from I-494 to West 7th Street. Minnesota Department of Transportation officials say all the work should be done by the Monday morning rush hour.
