'I thought it was a dead body': Canoe pair find fisherman's prosthetic limb

Mark Warner managed to grab his fishing gear and cooler when his canoe tipped over but he did lose one of his possessions – his prosthetic leg.

Warner tipped over on the Range Line Lake boat launch in Wabeno, Wisconsin, last month, and lost the Otto Bock leg he uses for hunting and fishing in the process, the Wisconsin Journal Sentinel reports.

On the off-chance someone came across it, Warner posted this Craigslist ad letting people know how to contact him if they found it, offering a $50 reward for its return.

The ad worked. His leg was found 20 days later in a beaver dam by Germantown's Elliot Fuller and his friend Jason Franklin, who were canoeing a creek about three miles from where it was lost, the Journal Sentinel says.

"I was sure we had found a dead body that someone dumped into the creek," Fuller told the newspaper. "We thought it was real at first until we got a closer look."

They found the Craigslist ad posted by Warner, a 49-year-old from Green Bay, and got in contact.

Warner thought it was gone and he didn't expect to see it again, he told the Journal Sentinel, adding "it's pretty bizarre where it ended up."
