Slippery roads and snowy conditions are being blamed in two fatal accidents that occurred in separate parts of Minnesota on Tuesday.

The Minnesota State Patrol says that slippery roads were a factor in an accident that occurred in southwestern Minnesota Tuesday evening.

The patrol says 26-year-old Amy Redenius, of Pipestone, was killed in a crash along Highway 23 in Pipestone County. The vehicle Redenius was driving collided with a semitrailer truck. The Star Tribune reports that authorities have not said which vehicle was in the wrong lane at the time of the crash.

The National Weather Service reported the Pipestone area saw nearly 10 inches of snow from the first major snowstorm of the season.

The Patrol also says another person was killed Wednesday morning after swerving to miss a deer along Interstate 35 in Chisago County. The 1998 Ford Ranger slid into the median sideways and rolled several times, according to authorities. The driver was ejected and was laying face down in the oncoming lane and was struck by another vehicle.

The newspaper says that the patrol has not identified the 29-year-old man from Harris.

Another accident in St. Cloud sent several other people to the hospital Wednesday morning after the van they were riding in spun out in St. Cloud.

The St. Cloud Times said around 4:06 a.m., 13 people aboard a large passenger van were traveling on Stearns County Road 75 over the Sauk River when the vehicle went off the road and rolled into a ditch. Police say the driver lost control on the ice-covered overpass, WJON reported.

10 people were hurt. None had life-threatening injuries

According to the National Weather Service, Tuesday's storm dropped about 4 inches of snow in the St. Cloud area overnight and a left a couple inches in the Twin Cities.
