Two putts would have won it, but Sergio Garcia needed only one to claim the green jacket Sunday at The Masters.

The former phenom nicknamed "El Nino" took advantage of Justin Rose's late struggles and forced a playoff before winning on the first extra hole with a birdie. The win put an end to the 37-year-old spaniard's 18-year pursuit of his first major championship.

“From the drive this morning to the course I was very calm,” Garcia said, via Masters.com. “I felt the calmness I’ve never felt on a major Sunday. Even after making a couple of bogeys, I was still very positive. I still believed there were a lot of holes I could go after.

“I’m so happy. … It’s been such a long time coming."

Garcia has finished second in a major four times – twice in the PGA Championship and twice in the British Open.

Justin Rose has finished runner-up in two of the last three Masters.
