Organizers of the Grammy Awards have announced they're planning a big tribute to Prince during this weekend's show.
But there's a way you can pay tribute to him yourself over the next week: bidding on some of his stuff in an online auction that starts Thursday.
There are more than 100 items in the Prince section of the Marvels of Modern Music auction that continues for a week.
The polka dot vest in the above photo is one of them. Said to be one of his favorites, Prince wore it on stage many times. Like much of what's being auctioned, it comes from the collection of one of Prince's assistants, Therese Stoulil. Auctioneers expect it to sell for about $8,000.
But while the vest was often worn, the big-ticket item in the auction was worn for just one special occasion: the filming of the 1986 movie Under the Cherry Moon.
The lace jacket Prince wore is covered with such elaborate beadwork it has never been laundered, auction organizers say. In fact it's even got some of Prince's makeup on the collar and perhaps a little Princely sweat in it. The estimated sale price is $25,000.
If that's a little rich for your blood, there are plenty of more modest items for sale, too. They include several handwritten notes, press material from his tours, and the platinum and gold records Prince was presented for sales of Batman, Graffiti Bridge, and Lovesexy, which are expected to sell for a few hundred dollars.
