The girls apparently took the weekend off at University of Minnesota Medical Center Fairview. From Friday evening through Monday morning all of the babies born at the hospital were boys. That's 19 straight deliveries.
What are the chances of that happening? A Star Tribune columnist's quick calculation put them at 1 in 544,288. A mathematician tells the Pioneer Press, though, that the likelihood is closer to 1 in 200.
The streak was finally broken Monday morning with the birth of a girl whose father owns a diaper-making company. The Pioneer Press reports he offered to donate three months worth of diapers to the families of the nineteen boys.
