Indeed's new series of unique beers is all about collaboration

The first beer in the series will be released Friday.

A Minnesota brewery is teaming up with other brewers and beverage makers for a new series of unique beers.

Indeed Brewing said Tuesday it's launching a new collaboration series called Flock Together, with the first beer in the series being released this week.

The Minneapolis-based brewery teamed up with Hoops Brewing, set to open in Duluth this spring, on a Belgian-style Dubbel that features fennel, star anise and agave syrup.

"We decided to twist styles like they do in Belgium – we threw in oddball ingredients to make a fun, yet character-loaded, complex ale," Indeed head brewer Josh Bischoff said in a news release.

The beer will debut at the Minnesota Craft Brewers Guild's Winterfest on Friday. The event is sold out (sorry), but you'll also be able to get the beer on tap at some bars and restaurants starting the week of Feb. 27 (those places haven't been announced yet), Kelly Moritz of Indeed told GoMN.

Indeed has collaborated with a bunch of other breweries before, with Bischoff saying they do it mainly because it's fun.

"We like to work with our friends in the industry, taking the different feel of each brewery and putting a little bit of both in the brew, to create something unique and exciting," he said.

Future collaborations in the Flock Together series are planned with Dangerous Man Brewing (they worked with Tea Source on a custom tea blend for the beer); Gamling & McDuck Winery (this beer will be part of Indeed's sour program, too); and Tattersall Distilling, Moritz explains, noting they'll probably team up with Hoops Brewing again as well.
