Inmate who escaped in Bemidji is tracked down in St. Cloud

Keanu Major was on the run for four days

The four-day search for an inmate who escaped from jail in Bemidji ended Tuesday evening when Keanu Joseph Major was apprehended in St. Cloud.

Major was injured during a fight at the jail last week. Authorities said he was on his way to a hospital when he escaped from a guard, triggering a CodeRED alert and a large law enforcement search through Beltrami and Hubbard Counties.

Police said Major was wearing leg shackles and a waist belt with restraints when he escaped.

St. Cloud is more than 150 miles from Bemidji. Officials did not say anything on Tuesday night about how Major was captured but a Beltrami County Sheriff's office statement announcing his apprehension says more details will be released Wednesday.
