Innocent woman in critical condition after high speed chase ends in a crash

A police chase that ended in a fatal crash in Minnetonka on Friday left a Minnesota woman severely injured. 

The husband of 59-year-old Karen Webster of Minnetonka told KARE 11 that his wife has undergone multiple surgeries and is in critical condition following the crash. 

Webster, according to the State Patrol, was driving a Volvo on Minnetonka Boulevard when the suspect fleeing police crossed the center line and struck her head-on. 

Webster suffered internal injuries and broken ankles, among other injuries, her sister wrote on Facebook.

The driver of the vehicle, 30-year-old David Phillip Baxter of Montrose, died in the crash.

Minnetonka Police began pursuit of Baxter on Minnetonka Boulevard after noticing him speeding. Despite attempts to pull him over, Baxter was able to flee police only to crash a short time later.

A dog in Webster's vehicle was also killed in the crash.
