Intruder enters family's home, cooks chicken nuggets
A Mankato mother had a serious fright when she woke up in the middle of the night to find an intruder in her home.
Her two children were asleep in question when she went downstairs at 2:25 a.m. on Saturday after being woken by a bad dream, where she confronted a man alleged to be Dylan Madden, 21, of Mankato.
After calling 911, she told him she was a police officer and was going to get her gun – an untruth she told to protect her children, the criminal complaint states.
By the time police arrived he was trying to leave the house, and was swiftly handcuffed.
He told police that he'd cooked some of the woman's children's chicken nuggets and also taken something to drink.
When interviewed by police, the victim – whose husband in D.C. for training – said Madden didn't know where he was and she thought he might have been drunk.
But Madden then blew a breath test of just .10, with police noting "he did not appear to be intoxicated to the point of not being able to make conscious decisions.".
He entered the house through an unlocked garage door.
He has been charged with 1st degree burglary.
