Delta Air Lines investing in Minnesota

The Atlanta-based airline says the Twin Cities is a key part of its operations. Delta's senior vice president of Minnesota operations told the Star Tribune the airline is investing more than $3 million in new equipment at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. Crews still working to restore power on Iron Range

April showers turned into 11 inches of heavy, wet, power-line-breaking snow and folks on the Iron Range are still trying to get the electricity back on. 14,000 customers lost service in the Grand Rapids and Mountain Iron service areas. At least the roads are passable enough to allow schools to reopen.

Iron Range town brainstorms after only grocer, pharmacy burn down

The next closest full-size store is in Ely, about 17 miles away, and some residents of Babbitt are elderly and would have trouble making the trip. Local groups are trying to organize ride-shares. Other suggestions include home delivery or installing a temporary store in City Hall.

Minneapolis subsidiary of Delta to close

Minneapolis-based Regional Elite Airline Services, a subsidiary of Delta Air Lines, will close Nov. 13. The company says its work has been awarded to another contractor at the airport. About 4,000 employees are affected, many in the Twin Cities will take jobs with Delta Ground Services.
