Izzy's new ice cream-making kitchen and scoop shop broke ground last week across from Gold Medal Park and is expected to open next summer, according to the company's blog.

The factory received some opposition from neighbors and a developer, the Star Tribune says, who threatened to stop a residential project called Park Vista. Plans for the work are still moving forward.
