The man accused of killing 30-year-old Kira Trevino pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder in Ramsey County District Court Friday.
No trial date has been set.
Kira Trevino has been missing since Feb. 21 and presumed dead after investigators found blood in her car and the Trevino's St. Paul home. Searches for her body have been ongoing.
Mike Teige, of Elderon, Wis., Kira’s Trevino’s cousin, who has made numerous trips to search for his relative at Keller Lake in Maplewood, tells the Star Tribune he is determined to find her in a search Friday. He is asking the public for donations of equipment, including augers, underwater cameras and GPS systems, he told the Star Tribune.
“If I have to tear that lake apart…that’s what I’ll do,” Teige tells the newspaper.
Volunteers are organizing another search at the Minnesota River Valley National Wildlife Refuge for 1 to 4 p.m Saturday, according to a search Facebook page.
More than 50 people gathered for a vigil Thursday night for Trevino, the Pioneer Press reported.
