Jimmy Jam's former Lake Minnetonka mansion back on the market

Author:

The more than 22,000-square-foot mansion formerly owned by famous Minnesota music producer Jimmy Jam Harris is for sale.

The Business Journal reports the 7 bedroom-7 bath property at 5800 Hardscrabble Circle in Minnetrista that backs up to nearly 300 feet of Lake Minnetonka shoreline is listed for almost $4.5 million. Jimmy Jam sold the house in 2007 for $7 million, but the property went into foreclosure.

The home built in 1991 definitely has a late-80s, Miami Vice feel and could use some updates. See a photo slideshow of the house.

Edina Realty broker Scott Stabeck told the journal that the mansion could also be a good candidate for a tear-down and rebuild.

You can get an idea of what the house looked when Jimmy Jam owned it here. According to the older listing, the property features a 12-car garage, an indoor pool and sauna, cascading waterfalls, fountains, a home theater and two caretaker's apartments.
