KARE 11 anchor Blake McCoy heads to LA for job with NBC News

A member of the KARE 11 news team is heading to California after landing a choice role with NBC News.

">Twitter Tuesday morning that reporter and weekend anchor Blake McCoy is heading to Los Angeles where he will be a correspondent for NBC News starting this October.

It will spell the end of a three-year stay in the Twin Cities for the 30-year-old, who joined the station in 2012 having worked previously for KBOI in Boise, Idaho, and KTNV in his hometown of Las Vegas, according to KARE 11.

His KARE bio says he graduated from George Washington University, where he double majored in political science and journalism.

Responding to a comment on Twitter, McCoy said that although he is leaving the Twin Cities, he won't be a stranger in the future.

"I love it here. I'll be back. Don't worry," he tweeted.
