Kurt Cobain's daughter, Frances Bean Cobain, is leading commemorations to her father on what would have been his 50th birthday.
The 24-year-old posted the following note on her Instagram page on Monday, thanking her father for giving her "The GIFT of Life."
The handwritten note echoes the Nirvana rocker's suicide note, in which he paid tribute to his daughter as being "full of love and joy, kissing every person she meets because everyone is good and will do her no harm."
Frances Bean's tribute is among the many being paid to the rocker, who took his own life at the age of 27 in 1994.
The BBC has put together a piece called "Six reasons why we still love Kurt Cobain" that references the influence he had upon artists in all genres, with even Jay-Z being among those to have referenced the band in his music.
Another reason was Cobain's belief in inclusivity, telling fans not to buy their records or come to their shoes if "you in any way hate homosexuals, people of different color, or women."
That quote can be found in this Rolling Stone compilation of "12 Great Quotes" from the Nirvana rocker.
