Murder charges have been filed against a mother and boyfriend in the "horrific" death of her 19-month-old. According to a newly filed criminal complaint, the toddler's death was caused by a blood infection from an untreated burn on his hand. He also had "internal bleeding" in his stomach, a "skull fracture" and a "cigarette burn" to his foot, among other injuries.

Schultz, 43, was found not guilty of second-degree murder and manslaughter in the death of Brooke Kowarsch, of Lindstrom. Defense attorney Earl Gray said Friday that authorities rushed to judgment in filing homicide charges.

Minn. hits 205 traffic deaths this year

The 2012 figure is on pace with the 204 deaths at this time in 2011, according to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety. This year's 205 deaths include four bicyclist, 29 motorcyclists and 18 pedestrians.
