A Lakeville man has been charged in a 14-year-old Iowa murder case.

The Associated Press reports Deshaun Lamont Phillips, 34, faces one count of first-degree murder for allegedly killing 44-year-old Judith Weeks in April 1999.

Week's body was found nude from the waist down behind a vacant apartment in Cedar Rapids, The Gazette said.

An autopsy report indicated that the woman had been struck in the forehead by a sharp object, her only injury.

Investigators would not say what new developments led to Phillips.

According to The Gazette, Phillips was convicted of domestic abuse and burglary charges in 1999. He was released from prison in February 2012, according to the Iowa Department of Corrections.

Minnesota court records show Phillips was convicted of felony domestic assault in Scott County last summer. Shakopee police told The Gazette that Phillips was arrested again last month for domestic assault and was in custody in the Scott County Jail when the murder charges were filed.

He's awaiting extradition to Linn County, Iowa.
