Large, wild cat attacks horse in Aitkin Co.

Last week, a 900-pound quarter horse, Molly, belonging to Lori Hart of rural Aitkin County, was mauled by a cat that a veterinarian confirmed was either a mountain lion or a cougar, the Brainerd Dispatch reports. Molly is recovering, but the attack left the horse with a nasty wound to its back right leg.

A wild big cat attacked a horse in rural Aitkin County, the horse's owner Lori Hart told the Brainerd Dispatch. The horse, Molly, is recovering from a wound to her back right leg. The attack is believed to have taken place at a pasture a few miles from Hart’s home near the junction of Highways 169 and 210, the newspaper reports.
