Lawsuit: Leaky Convention Center roof ruined big day
Minnesota playground equipment manufacturer Xccent Inc. put a lot of advance work into an important event at the Minneapolis Convention Center two years ago, and it literally rained on the company's booth, Xccent alleges in a lawsuit, the Star Tribune reports.
Blame those decorative domes – but not for long, center officials say. The leaky, 23-year-old copper domes are getting a $4 million to $5 million plastic-shell upgrade that could be done by the end of October, the newspaper says.
It's not a new issue. The leaky domes have been a problem for several years and temporary patching has been used, KARE 11 reported back in March, when material fell from the roof onto an auto show.
MinnPost explained more how the leaks happen in another story from earlier in the year.
