Southern Minnesota and the Twin Cities will get a dusting of snow Sunday afternoon, starting off a few flurries over the coming days.

The National Weather Service says not much will fall today, half an inch accumulations are expected in the Twin Cities, but forecasts suggests we could be in for a little more on Monday and Tuesday.

Sunday afternoon's sprinkling is expected to last until the evening.

This, combined with another light snowfall Monday evening into Tuesday morning, could put a couple of inches on the ground in the metro area, according to MPR's Updraft blog.

Coming with the snow will be some warmer temperatures, welcome after a frigid week across the state, with the mercury inching up to the high 20s by Tuesday, the National Weather Service says.

It'll get colder again after that though, with temperatures on Wednesday expected to be back in the teens.

In southern areas of the state, freezing rain could present problems on the roads, with Accuweather reporting that an icy mix could cause slick driving conditions and travel delays.
