While the Super Bowl may be more famous for its commercials, Target has something special planned for the breaks during this Sunday's Grammys! The biggest night in music is about to get bigger, with Lil Yachty making yet another case for being the hardest working man him hip-hop through collaborating with Carly Rae Jepsen for a remake of Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock's hip-hop classic "It Takes Two."
The Grammys tend to be a polarizing night for hip-hop fans, so naturally some skepticism of this "It Takes Two" remake is to be expected. What may catch some fans off guard is the production being handled by Mike WiLL Made-It, who currently has plenty of good will from the rap world for producing Rae Sremmurd’s “Black Beatles,” not to mention Beyonce’s “Formation.” If anyone can make this work, it's probably him.
A clip of the track can be heard at EW, and it's really intriguing. For someone like Yachty who's been criticized so heavily for lack of outspoken reverence of rap's history, his verse on "It Takes Two" is delivered with a clear zeal for the original, which may surprise some traditionalists.
Rob Base has yet to comment on the remake. DJ E-Z Rock died in 2014.
