Dr. Dre's celebrating his four-part documentary series with a brand new track.
Y'all know him, still the same O.G., but he's been low-key. So low-key, in fact, that the only music Dr. Dre has released this decade was the Straight Outta Compton tie-in release Compton. That's why it's a pretty big deal we have a whole new Dre track in "Gunfiyah."
Premiering as part of HBO's The Defiant Ones, "Gunfiyah" gives us a different-sounding Dre than we're used to hearing. While we do get the double-time flow of "Forgot About Dre" back, it comes with no boats, no snowmobiles and no skis Dre's voice having audibly aged a bit over the past 18 years. Fortunately, he pairs this evolution into adapting his flow into more of a fitting staccato growl.
Rumors are swirling that the good Doctor has been hard at work on a surprise Eminem album. While we haven't received any official confirmation on that, one can hope more new Dre music will come with the broadcast of The Defiant Ones' next three episodes.
- DJ Khaled admitted to missing subliminal disses on his album due to how excited he is over getting the verses.
- Bun-B has returned with a brand new track "Gametime."
- Dizzy Wright's beginning his mixtape hype train with his new single "JOB."
