President Obama helped bestow Jay-Z a new honor for hip-hop, and threw some playful jabs along the way.

The 2017 Class of the Songwriters Hall of Fame had a very memorable induction last night. In addition to such names as Motown legend Berry Gordy and Minnesota's own Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, hip-hop had its first-ever inductee in Jay-Z. Doing the honors ushering him in was none other than President Barack Obama.

Appearing in a pre-taped video message, Obama discussed how Jigga's writing has impacted him since his days as a Senator, the specific times he's quoted Jay's lyrics and casually mentioned how he's probably still the only president to play Jay-Z in the Oval Office. Obama also had fun drawing parallels between himself and Jay, including how both are married to people far more popular than they are.

After accepting, Jay spent the night tweeting out the MCs who've inspired him and continue to entertain him. It was a nice nod of spreading the hip-hop love.

- Vince Staples stopped by The Daily Show with Trevor Noah to discussThe Big Fish Theory.

- Macklemore's prepping his first solo album in over a decade, and the first single "Glorious" features Skylar Grey (but sadly no Bobby Roode).

- Kyle is spying more success, capping off his week being named an XXL Freshman with "Nothing to Lose."

- New Music Friday brings us brand new albums from Big Boi, 2 Chainz and Young Thug.
