The new Doomtree offshoot is just the surprise this summer needed.

If you like your Doomtree with pointed poignant perspectives with the sharpest of pointy edges, have we got the EP for you. Yesterday saw the unveiling of Shredders and their self-titled, three-track EP. Consisting of P.O.S., Sims, Lazerbeak and Paper Tiger, it's just the shot in the arm in case your summer had gotten too relaxing.

As you may have guessed, Lazerbeak and Paper Tiger handle the beats, P.O.S. and Sims (with one guest in fellow Doomtree member Mike Mictlan) got the raps, and for a clique as perpetually focused as Doomtree to have an even more zeroed-in focus for a project like this, it's a real pulse-pounder.

Shredders will be making their live debut at Prof Outdoors 4 on September 9 alongside Prof, The Underachievers, Mac Lethal, Finding Novyon, Cashinova and DJ Fundo at Cabooze Outdoor Plaza.

- The Boss is coming to reality TV as VH1's forthcoming music competition show Signed is slated to featureRick Ross, as well as The-Dream and Roc Nation VP of A&R Lenny S.

- Grieves hit us with the one-two combo of Running Wildtour dates and a video for his single "Rx."
