There's a tremendous influx of new music coming out before the end of the year, and one of the strongest standout tracks is Lexii Alijai's "Black Lives Matter." The teenage MC's perspective of what's happening socially and politically in the country is particular poignant. Over an emotive Cyht beat, she reflects on the current climate, including President-elect Donald Trump, who was named Time's Man of the Year today.

Alijai first broke out thanks to a feature on Oakland R&B artist Kehlani's "Jealous" last year, and since then she's amassed dozens of thousands of listeners all before turning 18. But instead of riding the easy wave of industry trends, Alijai is sticking to the genuine template of what moves her.

Those looking to catch Alijai live can see her open for Trina, December 16 at The Cabooze.
