As the executive producer of the Netflix original series The Get Down, Nas writes many of the hip-hop drama's original raps. Thanks to the show, he has just delivered us a brand new track in "Angeldust."
Nas' greatest strength has always been his vivid storytelling, and to hear him discuss the drug epidemic in 1980s New York plays to all of his attributes perfectly.
Hearing his tales of the substance's plague intercut with samples from contemporary news footage really revitalizes Nas' flow and pen-game. It's a reminder that he's still the same genius from Illmatic writing what he saw from his Queensbridge project window.
