Locked-out SPCO members to play 2 holiday concerts

Author:

Like their locked-out counterparts with the Minnesota Orchestra, musicians with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra are proceeding with a pair of holiday concerts next month, Minnesota Public Radio reported.

SPCO musicians announced Wednesday that they will perform Handel's "Messiah" with the Minnesota Chorale on Dec. 20 and 21 at Central Lutheran Church in downtown Minneapolis.

The SPCO announced earlier this month that former leader Pinchas Zukerman would be returning for an all-Mozart fundraiser in Wayzata on Dec. 2.

The SPCO's musicians have been locked out of salary and benefits since Oct. 22.

The Minnesota Orchestra's musicians, who have been locked out since Sept. 30, will play a pair of holiday concerts Dec. 15 and 16 at Ted Mann Concert Hall on the University of Minnesota campus.

The SPCO's concerts have been cancelled through the remainder of 2012, while Minnesota Orchestra management has cancelled all concerts at Orchestra Hall through Dec. 23.
