Def Jam rapper Logic just released the third single off his upcoming project called Everybody. The song title "1-800-273-8255" is the National Suicide Prevention Hotline.

He couldn't have dropped the song at a more perfect time, as suicide awareness has been a hot topic given the current controversy surrounding the Netflix series 13 Reasons Why.

"1-800-273-8255" features guest verses from the young, fast-rising stars Alessia Cara and Khalid.

"Who can relate?"

As described above, in the first verse, he portrays someone who is seriously considering taking their own life. He raps softly about firmly feeling lonely and waiting hopelessly to be saved. In the first hook he sings "I don't want to be alive, I just want to die today."

Then, as described in his Twitter announcement of the song, his next verse is full of faith. Logic takes the side of a hotline operator and expresses empathy and encouragement through lines like, "It can be so hard, but you gotta live right now/ You got everything to give right now."

"Seeing light in the darkest things"

Alessia Cara sings a guest verse supporting the message of hope, which is the heart of the song. She emphasizes the importance of seeing light in the most unfortunate circumstances and holding on for better days.

Alessia's soulful sound and words also reflect Logic's overall goal for his upcoming album. Logic told Genius this album is all about exploring, "What can happen if I took myself out of my comfort zone and made a whole album about everybody and everybody’s struggles including my own which is one I’ve never done."

"I finally wanna be alive"

Khalid angelically closes the song with confidence in overcoming suicidal thoughts and having endurance through life's daily struggles.

Social media comedian and mental illness advocate, Demetrius Harmon, shows how this powerful song has a danceable beat and how proud he is of his friend Khalid.

Logic will release Everybody in it's entirety on May 5.
