Luxury shopping options expand as local stores closing

Shopping for diamond jewelry? Or expensive designer clothes? Your options have widened in recent years, even as Twin Cities luxury stores have closed, the Star Tribune reports.

Neiman Marcus is leaving its downtown Minneapolis location in January; Bloomingdale's departed the Mall of America earlier this year, the newspaper notes.

The closings are in part a reaction to an ever-shifting marketplace as affluent shoppers find high-end brand-name goods at other places, including Target, Kohl's or even Costco, analysts tell the Star Tribune. And of course, shoppers are increasingly going online.
