Madden curse? Cover boy Tom Brady smashes mirror, walks under ladder

Tom Brady doesn't believe in the Madden curse and he's out to prove it.

Tom Brady can only blame himself if he gets struck by lightning in the near future.

The Patriots quarterback is on the cover of Madden and he's tempting fate by claiming there's no such thing as a Madden curse.

Before breaking the mirror and walking under the ladder, Brady should have considered the fates of his Madden cover boy peers.

In 2000, Barry Sanders was on the cover of Madden and he surprised everyone by retiring. Michael Vick made the cover in 2004 and broke his leg in the preseason. Shaun Alexander went from rushing for more than 1,700 yards in 2006 to under 900 yards after making the 2007 cover. Peyton Hillis was the cover boy in 2012 and his rushing total was cut in half.

Most notably, Brady's teammate, Rob Gronkowski, had the worst season of his career after being put on the cover last year.

ESPN ranked all of the Madden cover athletes based on how they performed the season they were featured.

Brady might be the GOAT, but he might be messing with the wrong curse.
