Police announced Friday the arrest of a 17-year-old boy in the stabbing death of a 16-year-old girl in Maplewood last week, WCCO-TV reports.
Anna Hurd of North St. Paul was found murdered last weekend on a walking path at Hillside Park.
The Star Tribune reports the suspect was Anna's boyfriend of more than nine months.
"They were young, it was the first time they ever fell in love. They were inseparable. Then something happened; he snapped," Anna's father, Patrick Hurd, told the Pioneer Press.
Friends say that the couple attended a house party last Friday and got into an argument on the way home.
Anna was found dead around 4:30 a.m. last Saturday. The Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office said she died from several puncture wounds consistent with a stabbing.
Authorities say the boy is being held at the Ramsey County Juvenile Detention Center on possible second-degree murder charges. His identity has not been released because he's a juvenile.
According to the Pioneer Press, Maplewood Police Chief Dave Kvam said the arrest "is really just the first step in a long process."
