Mall of America announces stores that will open on Thanksgiving

Just in time for Halloween, a holiday shopping update. The Mall of America has announced which stores will jump the gun on Black Friday by opening on Thanksgiving.

The Star Tribune reports that the mall's official opening will be at midnight, but will allow stores to open earlier.

Macy's announced earlier that it would open at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving. Len, Athleta, Gap, Godiva, American Eagle, Aerie and Express also plan to greet shoppers at the 8 p.m hour.

Carter’s and Field of Dreams will open at 9 p.m. Thursday, and Aeropostale will open at 10 p.m. Old Navy is opening from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving and will reopen at 7 p.m. on Thanksgiving.

Last year, Sears opened its stores at 8 p.m., including its Mall of America location, but has not yet announced hours for this year. Nordstrom will open at 6 a.m. on Black Friday.

A mall spokesman said that last year, 30,000 shoppers showed up at the Mall of America before midnight.

Ealier this month, the Associated Press reported that Kohl's and J.C Penney stores nationwide plan to open on Thanksgiving evening. Target and Walmart, which opened at 9 pm last year on Thanksgiving, have not yet announced their plans.
