A 21-year-old man has been arrested near Mankato after leading authorities on a high-speed chase with a baby in the backseat of his car.

That's according to a post on the Blue Earth County Sheriff's Office's Facebook page.

Officials say the chase started around 11 p.m., Friday when a Janseville Police Officer spotted a vehicle going 112 mph.

The driver continued at speeds exceeding 100 mph for a while until the officers were able to perform a special pursuit intervention technique (PIT) and get the suspect's vehicle into the ditch.

Officials arrested the man and spotted a 1.5-year-old baby in the backseat. The child was buckled into a car seat and had no apparent injuries.

The driver was taken to the Waseca County Jail where he's being held on charges.
