Man charged in Mendota Heights killing is arrested

The three-day manhunt for Lucifer Nguyen is over.

The man charged with murder in the death of Beverly Cory has been arrested.

Lucifer Nguyen, 44, was taken into custody around 11:30 p.m. Monday and booked into the Dakota County Jail, a news release says

He was found in Blaine, according to the Star Tribune. His arrest marks the end of a three-day manhunt that spanned parts of Dakota and Washington counties.

Nguyen is accused of robbing a woman at gunpoint in a Mendota Heights home Saturday morning, then hiding out in a senior living center before slipping into a nearby office park, where 48-year-old Cory was found dead from a gunshot wound to the head.

Officials said there's no known connection between Nguyen and Cory, who's from Maplewood.

Nguyen was charged Monday afternoon with second-degree murder. He also faces robbery, burglary and kidnapping charges.
