Man dies after shooting in NE Minneapolis, 2nd city homicide in 2015

Author:

A man has died from gunshot wounds in what police say is only the second homicide in Minneapolis in 2015.

Officers were called the Lowry Avenue and 4th Street NE in northeast Minneapolis at 12.30 a.m. Saturday, where they found a man with "severe gunshot wounds," according to police spokesman John Elder.

He was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, but died a short time later.

Police have launched a homicide investigation, and are looking for a black man that was seen in the area running east on Lowry with a gun in his hand.

They searched the area but could not find the suspect, who was described as wearing jeans and a grey hoodie-style sweatshirt.

It's the second homicide in Minneapolis this year. The Star Tribune notes that there were 32 homicides in the city in 2014.
