Police officials have released the name of a man who died after losing control of his go-kart and crashing at a track in Lake Denton, Wis., The Associated Press reports.

Wade Wiese, 45 of Charlotte, Iowa, suffered a fatal head injury after striking a wooden post along the track at Alligator Alley Adventures Go-Kart Track Wednesday, police say.

Police say Wiese struck the post after losing control of the vehicle. A medical helicopter reportedly was called in to transport the man to the hospital, but he was declared dead by a doctor about 45 minutes after the accident.

Wiese was in Wisconsin visiting with his family, The AP says.

Lake Denton is located on the Wisconsin River in Sauk County in south central Wisconsin.
