Man dies in officer-involved shooting

The man and officers fired shots, the sheriff's office says.

A man is dead following an officer-involved shooting in Crystal.

The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office says a call came in around 5 p.m. Friday regarding a person wanting to kill themselves on the 5100 block of Angeline Avenue North.

When officers arrived, they say they found a man with a gun. So officials evacuated neighbors in nearby houses and tried to make contact with the armed man.

Then shots were fired by both the man and officers, a news release says. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and no officers were injured.

Police from Crystal, New Hope and Robbinsdale were there at the time of the shooting.

The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office is investigating at the request of Crystal Police Department.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office will ID the man and determine an official cause of death.

More information will be released as it becomes available.
