Man found severely beaten, lying on Fridley highway


A 23-year-old man was found beaten and seriously injured in a snow-covered ditch along Hwy. 65 in Fridley early Saturday morning. Detectives are trying to find out how he got there.

The Star Tribune reports a passing motorist spotted the man on the east side of the highway near 73rd Avenue NE around 3 a.m. The man was beaten forcefully on the head and lying along a stretch of the four-lane highway.

He is currently in critical condition at Hennepin County Medical Center. His identity has not been released.

KARE 11 reports the incident is being investigated by the Fridley Police Department, Anoka County Sheriff's Office and the Minnesota State Patrol. Anyone with information is asked to call 763-427-1212.
