An off-duty Eden Prairie firefighter was in the right place at the right time Wednesday when the truck he was following left the road and became submerged in water just off of I-94 in Collegeville. William Beumer rescued the man in the vehicle, whom officials believe went off the road because he had a medical condition.

Expect weekend delays, detours on I-94 east, I-35W

Road construction may snarl traffic this weekend, as all eastbound lanes of Interstate 94 close for crews to lay pavement between Highway 55/Hiawatha Avenue and Highway 280 in Minneapolis. Interstate 35W in Arden Hills is closed in both directions between Interstate 694 and Highway 10 so crews can demolish the old County 10 Bridge. The closures continue through early Monday morning.
