Man injured in Brainerd bar stabbing, suspect arrested


A Brainerd man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing that happened Friday night.

Brainerd police suspect the 44-year-old is responsible for stabbing a 24-year-old man at the Iron Rail Saloon around 10:45 p.m.

Officials say they found the victim outside of the bar. He had a "serious single puncture wound" to the stomach and was bleeding.

Witnesses told police the suspect fled the scene, authorities report.

Officers located the 44-year-old in a wooded area on the 1000 block of Laurel Street.

The suspect has been arrested and taken to Crow Wing County Jail. A first degree assault charge is pending. BringMeTheNews typically does not name people until they have been formally charged.

The victim has been taken to a Twin Cities hospital and is in critical condition. But police say he's expected to recover.

Authorities say they're investigating the incident. According to the news release, police do not believe the two men knew each other prior to the stabbing.
