A 55-year-old St. Paul man has been charged in the kidnapping and rape of a 19-year-old man who says he was chained to a basement wall for four days.
The criminal complaint against Wilbert Glover says he snatched the victim off a Minneapolis street on Friday, imprisoned him in his basement in the North End neighborhood of St. Paul and repeatedly sexually assaulted him, according to a news release.
The victim, the release says, was finally able to escape through a window on Tuesday.
The incident was reported to police when the victim, blindfolded and with handcuffs on his hands and feet, showed up at a neighbor's door asking for help on Tuesday evening, according to the Star Tribune.
He told of how he'd been choked from behind on a Minneapolis street four days earlier, later waking up to discover himself chained in a basement, the paper says.
According to KSTP, the victim was taken to a hospital and found to have injuries "consistent with being restrained."
Glover is now charged with kidnapping and criminal sexual conduct in the first degree.
The alleged incident occurred on the 1300 block of Marion Street in St. Paul, just north of the downtown area.
