A fight inside a grocery store in Minneapolis turned deadly after spilling out onto the street.

Minneapolis police spokesman John Elder said that officers were called to the 3500 block of Lyndale Avenue North at 9.30 p.m. Friday evening to reports of shots fired.

They arrived to find the body of an adult male with gunshot wounds. Police believe that it followed an altercation inside the market which then moved out onto the sidewalk.

Police have launched an investigation and are looking for the shooter, who fled prior to officers arriving at the scene. The identity of the deceased will be released at a later point by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.

"This is not believed to be a random incident," Elder said.

Figures for up to July 6 show that there have been 22 homicides in Minneapolis in 2015, an increase on the 17 there were at the same period last year.

Anyone with information should call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or send an anonymous tip to 274637, begining the message with TIP674. You can also call the MPD tip line at 612-692-8477. The case number is 15-55607.
