Mandy Matula family holds fundraiser for search

The family of Mandy Matula, the 24-year-old Eden Prairie woman who has been missing for more than a month, has organized a fundraiser Monday to raise money for ongoing search efforts, WCCO reports. The benefit will be from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Brunswick Zone bowling alley in Eden Prairie.

Matula was last seen with former boyfriend David Roe, 24, in his vehicle outside the Matulas’ home the night of May 1.

Roe shot himself on May 2 before police could question him about her whereabouts. She is missing and presumed dead.

Investigators and volunteers have been searching in numerous areas for her body, from Eden Prairie to St. Cloud. A boat search Sunday on the Mississippi River near St. Cloud did not produce any leads, FOX 9 reported.

The Star Tribune has a story today about Mandy Matula's 21-year-old brother and his tireless quest to "bring Mandy home." Steven Matula has been the family's most vocal, high-profile figure in the searches. He has set aside his shyness and buried signs of emotion in an effort to be strong for his parents, the Star Tribune reports.

“Every week we go searching, we’re getting closer and closer,” Steven Matula told the newspaper.
