Maple Grove man charged with murder in Dinkytown stabbing

Murder charges have been filed for the stabbing death of a man in Dinkytown Thursday night.

Brandon Bockoven, 23, of Maple Grove, was charged with second-degree murder the Hennepin County Attorney's Office said.

Police responded to the stabbing Thursday night and found a victim in the front passenger seat of a car and bleeding from stab wounds. He died later at the hospital, the criminal complaint said.

Bockeven, who was driving the car, identified the victim and admitted to police that he had stabbed him. He also handed a blue folding knife to one of the police officers.

Two other passengers told police that the men were arguing over money the victim owed to Bockoven for some auto parts, the complaint states.

Bockoven remains in jail on a $1 million bail.
