Somewhere among the 48,270 people that gave money to a Mystery Science Theater 3000 reboot was Luke Skywalker.
It also landed him a cameo in the new episodes (which are now on Netflix).
Mark Hamill gave a talk at the Star Wars Celebration event in Orlando over the weekend – full video here – offering up anecdotes and jokes to an attentive, Jedi robe-clad audience (all of whom were probably geeking out over the Last Jedireveal trailer).
During it, he revealed how he ended up in the Mystery Science Theater 3000 revival.
"I just donated to the Kickstarter thing, right?" he explained. "So a lot of times I meet these people over the internet, and they contact me. And Joel Hodgson said, 'Is this THE Mark Hamill donating?' And I said 'As far as I know. I mean there might be other Mark Hamills.' But that led to him saying, will you come on the show."
The MST3K Joel Hodgson tweeted out creator Hamill's reveal Sunday, calling him "the real deal."

There had been hints
A Hamill cameo hadn't ever been confirmed, but it's not necessarily a surprise either.
Hamill in November 2015 tweeted he'd donated to the MST3K Kickstarter, and Hodgson replied to him a couple weeks later, saying they sent a letter.
And in December that year, Hodgson gave a Kickstarter update saying he was able to connect with Hamill, who was "up for doing a cameo."
"And you know, when we finally spoke, and Mark told he me was a MSTie from way back, I was simply knocked out," Hodgson wrote. "Like a lot of other people in my generation, seeing Star Wars in theaters back in 1977 was a profound experience."
