Mayo Clinic teases $100M hospital tower in Rochester

A Mayo Clinic official told the Rochester Post Bulletin that construction of a $100 million hospital tower on the St. Marys Hospital campus could be one of the first projects if state lawmakers approve its Destination Medical Center proposal.

Under the plan, Mayo vows to invest $3.5 billion to expand its Rochester campus and attract $2.2 billion in private investment over the next 20 years. In exchange, the clinic wants nearly $600 million in infrastructure improvements to better accommodate its patients.

Earlier this week, House Tax Committee Chairwoman Rep. Ann Lenczewski, DFL-Bloomington, said Rochester and Olmsted County should pay for some of the local improvements.
